Skankin' Pickle

Skankin' Pickle's debut album Skafunkrastapunk was one of the first American underground records to fuse hardcore punk with ska, heavy metal and funk. It's too many styles for one record, and speed-metal tends to dominate the more exotic ska guitar and slap-bass. And while the group tries to make some sort of political statement with cuts like "Racist World," they are essentially just punky party music, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Still, in order to pull off party music, you need to capture your live energy on record, which Skankin' Pickle does only sporadically over the course of Skafunkrastapunk.
