I am a God in my own mind. :)
Music
I'm a guy who loves music. I've been in several different bands playing different kinds of music. Ska, punk, funk, emo, solo, latin, swing, jazz, orchestral; it's all good. (No country, though [barf!])
I can remember back to some really good (and some really bad) bands I've been in. It first started with Stump, an imaginary band, started by Dan Burhans, Kevin Ackerman, and I; a flight of fancy for a pitiful group of 13-year olds with musical aspirations. Then came Lyf Sux, a group Sydd and I started on the road to nowhere.
'Round about age 17, I graduated to Free Toy Inside, which was the first significant band I was really a part of. This little ska band was a major stepping stone into music becoming the large part of my life that it is today. I got my first tastes of writing, arranging, and transcribing with this band.
I bounced around age 19, doing little solo guitar sessions for bars and restaurants around Phoenixville for a while. I also did little projects with my friends like the band Kevin Ackerman, Tim Odgers, and I almost started for a while also. I joined up with one of my Montco instructors and was a rhythm guitarist for his band, Disciplined Bohemians. In this group, I learned about my soul. Eventually, we parted ways on good terms. I just wasn't the right fit for this particular band. They were al little bit Latino, I was a little bit rock 'n roll.
Shortly after that, I joined up with the Audubon Symphony Orchestra, playing timpani/auxiliary percussion. This was a new experience for me, being that I'd never played any kind of percussion before. I stuck with them for about three years, but I just couldn't devote enough of my time to them. I really wish I could have, because I made some great older friends there. I miss them a great deal.
I tried to recruit people for a swing band, but I was desperate to find people. I could never get enough people interested in the same room at the same time. Also I had way missed the cusp of the new swing revolution.
I still study music to this day, independently. I've been expanding my craft, moving into different styles, like jazz, funk, and swing. I've mostly been doing more writing and arranging these days, but less performing. Time is a huge factor. I'm still looking to start a local swing band, just for the fun of it, so if anybody's interested, please, drop me a line.
Geekdom
I am a head computer SUPERNERD. I work for a software development company in Wayne, PA developing Loan Origination Software. (Don't ask me what that is, I'm still trying to figure that out myself.)
I like programming in VB.Net/C# and ASP.Net. Did I mention I was a computer nerd? How much of a nerd am I? I program this silly bullshit for no other purpose than my amusement. I use this site as my own personal web development whitebox. Ever heard the term, "Dreams in Digital"? Well, that applies to me. I've literally dreamt up pieces of code.
I teach an Intro to VB.Net for Montgomery County Community College. It keeps me on my toes, preparing for any and EVERY question asked of me about VB.Net.
Amusement
I'm a pretty complex guy, but I also like the simple things in life like video games, movies, TV, and concerts. 24, Family Guy, Futurama, The Boondocks, & Venture Bros. are the greatest shows on television. Adult Swim rocks!
