Moving Day
Well, today's the day! She's finally out! We moved my mother out of my house and into her own house down the block. I couldn't have picked a better day to take off of work. We couldn't have picked a worse day to move. It snowed all bleeding day. Stuff was wet, stuff was cold. The move actually went relatively smoothly. We got going early, around 8AM. We got everything onto the truck with no problems. The movers were great. The only snag was getting the movers down to the new spot. There's always gotta be one gotcha. My mother had to pick a unit next to the complex manager's unit. I knocked on their door to ask if they wouldn't mind moving their car so that the truck could fit sideways. For no reason, the manager's husband decided he wanted to flex. He started raising hell because he didn't want to move his car. He started insulting the movers and threatening them. There was no call to react like that to a simple request. He could have just said, "No." Good God. While he's on a tirade, I'm trying to ease hime down, Mom's trying to ease the movers down. I their frustration, they backed the truck up onto the property manager's lawn and left a divot. Oh God! Oy vey! Well after all that shit settled, everything went back to running smoothly. We got movers in and out of there in the snow, had about a dozen deliveries, and got her settled in in just a few hours. Not a bad day overall, save for the incident. Labels: Household
