Even though I own the DVD of
X-Men III: The Last Stand, and I'm NOTORIOUS for watching the deleted scenes, outtakes, and alternate endings, I never ever saw the very end of the movie where after the credits, it seeems that Professor X is reincarnated.
How the hell did I miss that?
Evidently, even though Professor X was destroyed by the Phoenix, his mind is transferred into the mindless body that rests comatose in the clinic where Dr. Moira McTaggert works. As she walks by to check his vitals, that distinguished voice of Capt. Picard softly murmurs, "Hello, Moira" giving the opportunity for a fourth installment of the X-Men movie franchise.
Not that there weren't any other mechanisms for a fourth movie, like Magneto sitting in a park playing chess in the final scene, after he's been transformed back into a powerless human, and he's able to move a rook a few millimeters.
If you think about it, there's a scene that seemed almost unnecessary, where Professor X is teaching an ethics class, and Dr. Moira and the comatose body, which I assumed was
Proteus, are mentioned. I thought it was just to lend a little bit of authenticity, bringing a little more of the X-Men world into the movie. Now I understand why.
Hey, maybe in the fourth movie they'll bring in Gambit (mentioned in the second movie) and Morph. Remember Morph had a bitch of a time?
